Butterfly Blues Belgian Cotton Linen Cushion

The butterflies of the Australian LYCAENIDAE family are commonly known as 'blues'. The species features brilliant iridescent colours of blue or purple on the upper side, and various shades of brown and copper on the underside. Common names conjure up a magical palette of blues, turquoise and purples such as 'Midnight Jewel', 'Purple Moonbeam', 'Satin Azure', 'Amethyst Hairstreak' and 'Purple Cerulean'. I painted this design in watercolour.
